Peak Design L-3 Leash Camera Strap

Product Highlights
  • Use as Neck/Sling Strap or Safety Tether
  • Two-Piece System / Strap and Anchor
  • Anchor Ties to Strap Lug or D-ring
  • Anchor Quick-Connects to Strap
  • One-Handed Quick-Release System
  • Adjustable 19 to 60" Strap

The L-2 Leash Camera Strap from Peak Design is a quick-connect system that mounts to any piece of equipment that has a loop or D-ring. Use it as a neck or sling strap for your DSLR, video, mirrorless or point-and-shoot camera. It also works with binoculars, water bottles, and compasses. The strap is designed to smoothly glide across your shoulder and raise your gear to eye level.

This system includes two pieces-an anchor and strap. The anchor attaches to your gear via a cow hitch-two half-hitches looped in opposite directions. Once the anchor is tied to your equipment, it locks to a slot on the strap. The two pieces can be separated with a one-handed push of a button. You can also use more than one anchor on a single piece of equipment by attaching them to different locations on the gear. One might attach to a strap lug while another might be connected to a quick-release plate or second lug. This will save you time if you prefer or need a different shooting configuration. It can also help increase the support the gear receives when attached to the strap.

The strap is made from seatbelt-style webbing and is adjustable from 19 to 60" to accommodate your shooting and comfort preferences. The anchors have been updated and are made of 3-layer Dyneema which resists abrasion and withstands 200 lb of force. The L-2 has an improved stronger anchor system which indicates when it is time to replace your anchors. The outside sheath of the anchor is black, the middle sheath is yellow and the inner sheath is red. When you start seeing yellow, it's time to replace your anchors. This set includes one strap and four anchors.

Nice quality and flexible strap. just that sometimes the plastic clip part gets in the way when i hold the camera.

I wanted a strap that wasn't too bulky and didn't have the stock "dslr" strap look. I already own the Slide Lite (which is great) but needed something thinner as I use mirrorless. When I got the strap, I was really surprised at how much better it looked it person. The colour isn't as light a shown in pictures. The grey is darker and more classy. The new anchor links are AMAZING! If you've used the older you can appreciate how thin the newer ones are. And not to mention so much easier to hook and un hook. AS much as I love the strap, there as some cons: Pros: - Smaller, thinner, lighter - Much needed improvement on anchor links - Stylish (ash grey) Cons: - I found it to be a little too light after long shoots. As it is thinner, there is no padding and thus sometimes dig into your shoulder after longer periods. If this is your only strap, I wouldn't suggest getting this first (unless you own small cameras like PNS) - As the strap system is different from the normal Slide, the pieces tend to be a little loose and tend to "open" more. Is a little hard to explain but the strap isn't always as fitted together when wearing compared to the Slide as it has the clamping mechanism. Overall this is a great product that fits a specific need. As with all gear, everything has its use and this has its own. I found this strap to be particularly useful in shoots that are shorter and more casual, but not for long use, even with a mirrorless camera. My suggestion, if you want an all rounder strap for mirrorless/dslr type cameras, get the Slide Lite. Its much more ergonomic compared to this. BUT, if you own a point and shoot or really small cameras, or shoot occasionally and for leisure, this is a wonderful strap that is will not stand out, has great quality, and easy to use and store.
